Editing workflow

Trim a video online without losing the useful moment

To trim a video in Kublaro, add it to the timeline, select the clip and set its In and Out times in seconds. In selects the first source moment to keep; Out selects where it ends. Save the edit and export an MP4. Trimming changes the segment used in the montage and leaves the source media available in the project.

Before you start

Upload the source video to your project and identify the first and last moments worth keeping. Let the media load before setting times. For a middle section you want to remove while keeping both ends, use Split instead.

A practical example

Keep the product reveal

A 12-second clip has two seconds of setup and four seconds after the action ends. Set In to 2 and Out to 8. The retained segment is six seconds: Out minus In. With a direct cut, that clip contributes six seconds to the timeline.

How to do it in Kublaro

  1. Add the source video

Open the editor, choose your project and click the video in Project media to add it to the timeline.

  2. Select the clip

Click its timeline segment and open the Clip controls. Check that the selected media name matches the footage you want to trim.

  3. Set In and Out

Enter the source start and end in seconds. Keep Out later than In and within the original duration. Shorten a little at a time to preserve the action.

  4. Check the edit points

Play the start and end of the retained segment. If speech or a gesture is cut off, move the edit point slightly.

  5. Save and export

Keep the entire timeline within three minutes, save and export MP4. Watch the exported start and ending before sharing.

Check your final MP4

  • The clip starts at the action you intended to keep.
  • The end leaves enough time for the last word or gesture.
  • No important subject disappears after the selected aspect-ratio crop.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

Confusing clip time with timeline time
In and Out refer to time inside the original source video. The timeline playhead refers to time across the whole edit.
Trying to delete the middle with one trim
A trim keeps one continuous segment. Split on both sides of the unwanted part and remove that segment to keep the beginning and end.

Questions about this workflow

What is the difference between trimming and splitting?
Trimming changes the beginning or ending of one segment. Splitting turns a segment into two pieces at the playhead so you can reorder or remove a piece.
Does trimming overwrite my uploaded video?
The edit stores source references and In/Out times in the timeline. The uploaded source remains available in your project; the export renders the retained sections into a new MP4.
Can I export the trim as a 4K video?
The current timeline outputs 1280 × 720 landscape, 720 × 1280 portrait or 960 × 960 square. It does not export a 4K timeline.
