Split a video online and rearrange its scenes
To split a video in Kublaro, select a timeline clip, move the playhead inside that clip and click Split, or press S when you are not typing. The split creates two timeline segments from the same source. Move or remove those pieces to shape the sequence, then export the assembled edit as one MP4.

Before you start
Add the source video to the timeline. Decide whether you need to reorder scenes, remove a pause or simply trim an end. A split adds one clip to the montage, so leave room within the 20-clip limit.
A practical example
Remove a pause from the middle
A 15-second clip contains an unwanted pause from seconds 5 to 8. Split at 5, select the second piece and split at timeline second 8. Remove the three-second middle piece. With direct cuts, the remaining 5-second and 7-second pieces form a 12-second edit.
How to do it in Kublaro
Select the right segment
Click the timeline clip you want to divide. The Clip inspector should show that segment's media name.
Place the playhead inside
Move the playback slider or click the timeline ruler. Leave enough media on both sides; a split at the very edge is not accepted.
Split the clip
Click Split or use S outside a text field. The timeline now contains two adjacent segments.
Shape the sequence
Drag a segment to reorder it, use Earlier/Later, or select and remove an unwanted piece. Undo lets you recover an editing action during the current session.
Watch the join and export
Play across each new boundary. Choose a direct cut, fade or dissolve, then save and export. Review transitions in the final MP4.
Check your final MP4
- The split occurs in the selected clip, at the intended story change.
- Removing a piece did not cut out a needed word or movement.
- The reordered clips still form a clear sequence with consistent sound.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- The playhead is in another clip
- Splitting acts on the selected segment. Select it and move the playhead inside its duration before clicking Split.
- Expecting separate files for every piece
- Split creates pieces in the edit. Export produces one assembled MP4; it is not a batch command for downloading each segment separately.
Questions about this workflow
- Can I split a clip with a keyboard shortcut?
- Yes. Press S while the selected clip contains the playhead and focus is outside an input or text field.
- Why won't the clip split?
- Check that the playhead is inside the selected segment, away from its ends, and that the timeline has fewer than 20 clips. Splitting at a boundary or beyond the clip limit is not accepted.
- Can I join the pieces into one video?
- Yes. Arrange the pieces on the same timeline and export the assembled sequence as one MP4. Direct cut preserves their summed duration; dissolve overlaps can shorten it.
